| Tiivistelmä: | The aim of this article is to propose a complementary approach to the analysis of tourism systems. The analysis is grounded on theoretical frameworks rising from dynamic capabilities and destination management fields. Particularly, the paper investigates the relationship between the networking approach of tourism firms and the development of tourism core-competencies. This perspective attempts to provide development means for policy maker actions based on the appraisal of local resources and tourism competencies. The empirical section examines a high-potential Italian area in terms of tourism resources but also, especially in the past, a moderate relevance in the tourism economy. However, recently the area has shown a highly interesting entrepreneurial dynamicity in tourism and culture, making it an appropriate research field for the analysis of tourism core-competence development determinants. |
