Tiivistelmä:This article examines a status order for Norway employing register data on married and cohabiting couples by applying multi-dimensional scaling to contingency tables that cross-classify the occupation of spouses and cohabiting partner. The general characteristic of the Norwegian status order and that of the United Kingdom are notably alike, like is the way in which social status is connected with education, income and social class in the two countries. Nevertheless, social status is more equitably distributed in Norway than in the United Kingdom.
