| Tiivistelmä: | This article reconstructs and expands well-established cultural tourist typologies, providing an alternative model to help explain the fine differences between various cultural tourists in art museums. Keeping in mind the art museum visitors' difference from visitors of other kinds of museums and that visiting a museum is not separate from everyday life, in-depth, semi-structured interviews in the participantsÂ’ home country were utilized to examine museum perceptions and memories of past experiences in museums. The main finding of the study is the identification of eight separate ways of perceiving the art museum at home or at a tourist destination. Five case studies are showcased to present the need for more inclusive and flexible typologies. |
