Tiivistelmä:This paper concerns the relationship between individual values and consumerism related beliefs. The study relies on data collected in the USA and Taiwan. The findings reveal mechanism by which individualism reduces consumerism. The study shows the linear path from individualism to work ethic to consumer ethic to consumerism. The study also provides the evidence of the differences between Taiwan and the USA on the people's belief that consumption benefits society.
