| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the process of creating ideas in large organizations. The observation that ideation capabilities are managerial and organizational processes is based on the dynamic capabilities framework. A case study of four Swedish companies has been conducted to see the effect of these capabilities. The results reveal that ideation can be approached in multiple ways and that it presents paradoxical issues to management. Extensive focus on building ideation and the formalization caused by it has a negative effect, and restricting the process to only ideas needed can hinder it. Still, a deliberate approach to ideation can yield many benefits. |
