Tiivistelmä:The purpose of the paper is to explore why sometimes an organization's discreditable behavior does not harm its reputation: why external stakeholders overlook these discreditable actions? The authors develop a model based on stigmatization theory, to examine the relationship between discreditable behavior and the possible following reputational loss. The findings of the article indicate that several factors - such as the content of stakeholders' pre-disclosure perceptions - can protect the organization from suffering a reputational loss despite its unethical actions.
