| Tiivistelmä: | Purpose of this paper is to introduce a structural theory of vacation. The study proposes three vacation structures: stay-put vacations, arranged touring vacations and free-wheeling touring vacations. The study is based on a representative sample of residents of Switzerland. The paper observes differences in the destination chosen, duration of vacations, levels of vacations expenditure, composition of travel parties, choices of transport mode and motives to travel between these three macrostructures. |
