| Tiivistelmä: | The explosive expansion of futures and options has caused problems for fiscal legislators and traders/investors in risk management instruments. While the US has adapted herself relatively quickly to the dramatic change, the UK has only made partial steps toward a good solution. British tax system is outdated. It makes unnecessary distinction between capital and income, trading and non-trading. Any agent in any country has to focus on five problems: 1. symmetry of tax treatment, 2. the country of the transaction, 3. Timing. 4. The relation between accounting and taxation. 5.
