| Tiivistelmä: | The issue of the nature of current difficulties of application is first raised. Then a meta-model and a meta-modelling approach focusing on the basic features of operations research are developed to facilitate the identification of the characteristics of a problem and the selection of the appropriate model for solving it. The proposed conceptually founded approach, as a supplement to the technical approach, may constitute a means of easing difficulties. A framework for presentation of operations research models to a potential user independently of mathematical derivations is provided. An incidental result is that the meta-model provides a linkage between operations research and other related disciplines. |
