Abstract (eng): The area of smart grids is currently receiving a lot of attention both from the academic world and the commercial world.
It is seen to have large potential in providing solutions to many of the important questions such as increasing overall energy efficiency in society and usage of renewable energy sources and improving the reliability of electricity distribution and transmission operations.

The objective of this work was to verify that the GENERIS data management platform developed by Process Vision Oy is compatible with new components and ideas introduced in a smart grid implementation.
Various new components and ideas of different smart grid visions were introduced from literature.

The objective was realized by configuring a small scale smart grid implementation into a GENERIS system.
The smart grid specific components modeled in the system were distributed generation units, such as wind power plants, solar panels and small scale CHP units, active consumer sites and grid connection layers between different parts of the network.
The necessary configurations to achieve this were found to be easy to accomplish without any extra development work needed to the platform and are anticipated to be easily expandable into a large scale implementation as well.
