Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): The functional parts of photovoltaic (PV) system targeted for consumers are solar cells and an inverter.
System yields power at maximum 10 kW.
PV-systems normally include some kind of user interface for data acquisition from inverter's power generation statistics.
However, if user interface is wanted to have access to up-to-date information of power generation, data transfer throughout the system must be organized.
In this thesis typical features and limitations of data transmission in existing PV-systems are sorted out.
Moreover, system users' requirements for data transmission are observed.

6LoWPAN is a fairly new standard for wireless networks.
It enables leveraging of IPv6-prorocol in embedded devices.
In the practical section of this thesis one part of data transmission in a PV-system is carried out utilizing 6LoWPAN.
While doing this, we evaluate i) the applicability of 6LoWPAN-standard to PV-system by the extent user imposed requirements are met and ii) how the commissioning of 6LoWPAN contributes to wireless networks.
Abstract (fin): Kuluttajalle suunnatun invertteripohjaisen aurinkosähköjärjestelmän toiminnalliset osat ovat aurinkopaneelisto ja invertteri.
Järjestelmän tehontuotto on alle 10 kW.
Tyypillisesti järjestelmän tehontuoton seurantaa varten on olemassa käyttöliittymä.
Jotta käyttöliittymä saisi ajantasaista tietoa invertteriltä, on aurinkosähköjärjestelmän tiedonsiirtoa koordinoitava.
Tässä diplomityössä selvitetään järjestelmän tiedonsiirron tyypilliset piirteet ja rajoitteet tarkastelemalla markkinoilla olevia aurinkosähköjärjestelmiä, sekä järjestelmän käyttäjien vaatimukset tiedonsiirrolle.

6LoWPAN on verraten uusi langattomien verkkojen standardi, joka mahdollistaa IPv6- osoiteavaruuden käytön sulautetuissa laitteissa.
Tämän diplomityön käytännön osiossa toteutetaan osa aurinkosähköjärjestelmän tiedonsiirrosta 6LoWPAN- tekniikan avulla.
Samalla arvioidaan i) järjestelmän käyttäjien vaatimusten perusteella 6LoWPAN- standardin soveltuvuutta ko. järjestelmän sekä ii) standardin käyttöönoton tuomia etuja langattomissa verkoissa.
