Abstract (eng): This master's thesis studies different ways to automatize a grocery warehouse.
The purpose is to provide answers for what the main prerequisites for automatizing a grocery warehouse are.
Based on the prerequisites, the most logical function to be automatized is considered next.
The focus is on the grocery warehouse of Tuko Logistics Cooperative which also works as a distribution center.
When the most logical function has been found, it is also necessary to know the consequences of automation.
Therefore, there are three additional, more accurate questions looking for answers to what kind of company strategies automation supports, what it enables and how it affects quality and which factors are not that critical anymore, if the chosen function is automatized.

The theory section of the thesis provides an overview of what warehousing is in the first place with a description of its activities and challenges that the industry is facing.
Order picking activity is covered in detail because of its characteristics as a considerable target of automation.
Current feasible automation solutions are described and suitability for Tuko's use is contemplated thoroughly.
Abstract (fin): Tämä diplomi-insinöörityö tutkii eri tapoja automatisoida elintarvikevarastoa.
Tarkoituksena on tarjota vastaus siihen, mitkä ovat automatisoinnin reunaehdot.
Havaittuihin reunaehtoihin perustuen seuraava tutkinnan kohde on loogisimman toiminnon automatisointi.
