| Abstract (eng): | Passinraitti is a street located in the Kauhava town centre. The street is situated by the Kauhava River and leads to the Church of Kauhava. On Passinraitti there are four preserved Ostrobothnian houses that form a cultural environment protected in the master plan. Passinraitti is planned for residential building and there are unbuilt plots of land intended for new building. The thesis presents a solution for the complementary building of Passinraitti, taking into account the cultural environment. The thesis presents the current state and future vision of the town of Kauhava. The settlement history of Southern Ostrobothnia and the stages and qualities of Ostrobothnian houses are examined to understand the architectural value. The primary aim of the design is to present a complementary building plan that takes into account the preserved Ostrobothnian houses and to plan an example of a new building. The basic idea of the architecture is to adjust to the scale and materials of the existing Ostrobothnian houses. The aim is to design a new building that is traditionally modern and stands the test of the time together with its neighbourhood. |
| Abstract (fin): | Passinraitti sijaitsee Kauhavan kaupungin keskustassa Kauhavanjoen varrella johdattaen kohti Kauhavan kirkkoa. Passinraitilla sijaitsee säilyneitä pohjalaistaloja, jotka muodostavat yleiskaavassa suojellun kulttuuriympäristön. Passinraitti on kaavoituksella osoitettu asuinrakentamisen alueeksi ja uudisrakentamiselle on olemassa rakentamattomia tontteja. Tämän diplomityön aiheena on esittää kulttuuriympäristö huomioiva ratkaisu Passinraitin täydennysrakentamiselle. Ensiksi työssä esitellään Kauhavan kaupungin nykytila ja sen asettama tulevaisuuden visio. Passinraitin rakennustaiteellisen arvon ymmärtämiseksi on tutkittu Etelä-Pohjanmaan asutushistoriaa ja selvitetty pohjalaistalojen vaiheita ja ominaisuuksia. Suunnittelutyön päätavoitteena on esittää täydennysrakentamissuunnitelma, joka huomioi raitin säilyneet pohjalaistalot sopeuttavasti ja esittää esimerkinomaisesti raitille yhden uudisrakennuksen suunnitelman. Esitettävän uudisrakennuksen arkkitehtoninen perusidea on sopeutua raitin pohjalaistalojen muodostamaan mittakaavaan ja materiaalimaailmaan olemalla perinteikkään moderni uudisrakennus, joka kestää aikaa naapurustonsa kanssa. |
