Abstract:The article presents an empirical study of ethical climate types and their effects on employee work satisfaction. Victor and Cullen's (1988) ethical climate typology is tested in the context of telecommunications industry using questionnaires aimed at employees and managers in 62 firms in Turkey. Along with the impact on work satisfaction, the purpose is to investigate whether the same nine ethical climate types observed in Western countries also exist in a developing Muslim country. Self interest climate type is found to have negative impact on work satisfaction, while the climates of team interest, social responsibility and law and professional codes have a positive influence.
