Abstract:The article investigates the political scope of intra-firm competition and of subsidiary mandate change. From a micropolitical perspective, the research identifies essential actors, their behavioral rationales and the contextual conditions that inform those in intra-firm competition. The results imply that subsidiary managers' capacity to mobilize resources within and outside the multinational companies and their aspiration to apply these in favor of the subsidiary form a key strategic asset in intra-firm competition.
