Abstract:This article investigates the effect of group-based work as a knowledge sharing mechanism on the development of organizational learning. A set of propositions that highlight the role of communication forms in settling the effect of group-based work on knowledge sharing, is developed with the use of insights from communication research. The view presented in this article is founded in the philosophical perspective that emphasized the role of communication in knowledge sharing and learning. Cultural psychology research suggests that people from different cultures have different cognitive styles. This in turn means that the effectiveness of knowledge sharing in group-based work is dependent on the communication forms used.
