Abstract:The largest business sector in the world is the government purchasing market. This paper aims to explore differences btw. the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors on two critical aspects of business-to-business procurement: ethics and strategy. Based on survey data from a sample of over 320 procurement professionals in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, key differences are explored. Among others, it is suggested that buyers in the for-profit sector are more likely to behave opportunistically etc.
