Abstract (eng):This thesis reports the delivery time analysis for a company that manufactures welding machines.
The actual delivery time for products was clarified by investigating deliveries for these products from the enterprise resource planning system of the target company.
The significance of delivery time as a competitive strength of a company was researched.

Quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed in this thesis in relation to the delivery time of products in order to evaluate the applicability of new business concepts for the target company.
A new model has been constructed concerning order penetration point (OPP) and value offering point (VOP), these form the basis for product availability principles.
Product availability principles are based on the delivery times provided for different products.
In addition, new information was gained concerning the customer purchase processes.

The conclusions and recommendations are presented on a roadmap model where recommended development plans are classified under bigger objectives.
Among these, the most significant ones are new rules for product availability and final product inventory reduction.
Things that ought to be studied further are also presented.
Abstract (fin):Tässä diplomityössä on tutkittu tuotteiden toimitusaikaa hitsauslaitteita valmistavassa yrityksessä.
Työssä on selvitetty tuotteiden todellinen toimitusaika tutkien kohdeyrityksen toiminnanohjausjärjestelmän toimitusrivejä tietyltä ajanjaksolta.
Työssä on tarkasteltu toimitusajan merkitystä yrityksen kilpailutekijänä.

Työssä tehtyjä tuotteiden toimitusaikaan liittyviä kvantitatiivisia ja kvalitatiivisia analyysejä hyödyntäen on arvioitu uusien liiketoimintakonseptien soveltuvuutta kohdeyritykseen.
Työssä on rakennettu tilauksen kohdistuspisteeseen ja tarjoaman kohdistuspisteeseen perustuva malli, jonka perusteella on luotu uudet tuotteiden saatavuuden periaatteet.
Tuotteiden saatavuus perustuu tuotteille tarjottuun toimitusaikaan.
Lisäksi asiakkaiden hankintaprosesseista on saatu uutta tietoa.
