Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):The aim of this master thesis was to find out the commitments to the enterprise risk management and voluntary drivers of the enterprise.
This study was the first phase of a development project, which was set up to develop an enterprise risk management concept according to the corporate governance recommendations for Ekokem Oy Ab.
The goal was that each member of the project would gain a common terminology and thus they can take part in setting the objectives for the development project.
Research methods included the literature review and qualitative information gathering on research report documents.
In addition to this, two essential constructions were created.

In the work it was noticed that the Finnish corporate governance recommendation give to companies wide freedom in turning their risk management into practise.
Risk management was recognised as an essential mean for increasing owner value.
By taking advantage of the positive risks or opportunities a company can increase its owner value.
Similarly, by controlling negative risks or threats, a company can maintain its owner value.
Risk management is also a tool, which a company can use to build trust from the viewpoint of its interest groups and thus create conditions for the sustainable development of the owner value.
The formal models designed for risk management are presented in this study.

The essential factors affecting risk management in Ekokem Oy Ab were explained in this work.
It was noticed that Ekokem had plenty of experience in the management of personnel and environmental risks and in improving relationships with its interest groups.
In this study a risk map and a risk matrix were developed for Ekokem in order to set risk management principles and objectives of the enterprise.
As a result of this work, an enterprise risk management framework was established.
This work produces the conditions for the development of enterprise risk management for Ekokem.
Abstract (fin):Tässä opinnäytetyössä selvitettiin kokonaisvaltaisen riskienhallinnan normitaustaiset velvoitteet ja vapaaehtoisuuteen perustuvat motivaatiotekijät.
Tämä työ oli ensimmäinen vaihe kehityshanketta, jonka tavoitteena oli kehittää Ekokem Oy Ab:lle corporate governance -suositusten mukainen kokonaisvaltainen riskienhallinnan konsepti.
Tavoitteena oli, että kehityshankkeeseen osallistuville muodostuu yhteinen käsitteistö ja siten edellytykset kehityshankkeen tavoitteiden asettamiselle.
Tutkimusmenetelminä käytettiin kirjallisuuteen ja kohdeyrityksen käytäntöihin perehtymistä.
Tutkimuksessa käytettiin pääasiassa kvalitatiivisia tiedonkeruu menetelmiä, kuten valmiita tutkimusaineistoja ja dokumentteja.
Työssä luotiin lisäksi kaksi keskeistä konstruktiota.

Opinnäytetyössä havaittiin suomalaisten corporate governance - suositusten antavan yrityksille vapauksia riskienhallinnan käytännön toteuttamiselle.
Riskienhallinta tunnistettiin keskeiseksi keinoksi omistaja-arvon kehittämisessä.
Positiivisten riskien eli mahdollisuuksien hyödyntämisellä yritys voi kasvattaa omistaja-arvoaan.
Vastaavasti hallitsemalla negatiiviset riskit eli uhat yritys ylläpitää omistaja-arvoaan.
Riskienhallinta on myös työkalu, jonka avulla yritys voi rakentaa luottamusta sidosryhmiinsä ja luoda siten edellytykset omistaja-arvon kestävälle kehitykselle.
Työssä esiteltiin riskienhallintaan kehitettyjä ideaalimalleja.

Opinnäytetyössä kuvattiin keskeiset Ekokem Oy Ab riskienhallintaan vaikuttavat tekijät.
Ekokemillä todettiin olevan runsaasti kokemusta henkilö- ja ympäristöriskienhallinnasta sekä sidosryhmäsuhteiden aktiivisesta hoitamisesta.
Työssä kehitettiin Ekokemille kokonaisvaltaisen riskienhallinnan periaatteiden ja tavoitteiden asettamista varten riskikartta ja riskien pisteytysmatriisi.
Opinnäytetyön tuloksina saatiin viitekehys kokonaisvaltaisen riskienhallinnan kehittämiselle.
Työ luo tavoitteen mukaiset edellytykset kokonaisvaltaisen riskienhallinnan menettelyjen kehittämiselle Ekokemillä.
