Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):The objective of this research is to recognise efficient function-level purchasing process models for project and maintenance businesses.
Function-level models are defined as models, where only the functions are illustrated and more detailed tasks are excluded.

The objective is attained by formulating efficient function-level purchasing process models for project and maintenance businesses.
The formulated models are generated by using the purchasing models identified in the literary review.
These models were chosen to recognise the special features of project and maintenance businesses, but also general models are included in the analysis.
In addition to the literary review the formulated models take into account the firm's business units' current purchasing models for straight material and service purchases, the identified improvement opportunities in the purchasing processes and the objective task-level models constructed for the firm's business units.

Based on the material gathered during the research process a nine function purchasing model was constructed for project business.
Two clear processes were identified in the model, the tender process and the implementation process.
The tender process includes the first three functions of the process: identifying the customer's need and making the decision to begin the tender process, defining the purchasing need and making an initial purchasing plan, and identifying the net price and condition of sale and defining more closely the purchasing plan.
The second part, the implementation process, includes the last six functions: organizing the project's internal opening meeting, updating the purchasing plan and deciding on the purchasing method to be used, placing the purchase order and verifying the client confirmation, receiving and entering the delivery in the data system, collecting the project documents from suppliers and clearing the invoice and paying the supplier.

Also based on the material gathered during the conducted research process a seven function purchasing process for maintenance business was constructed.
The formulated model consists of one coherent process, that includes the following seven general functions: identifying the customer's need and defining the purchasing needs, deciding on the purchasing method to be used, placing the purchase order and verifying the client confirmation, delivery control, receiving and checking the delivery and entering the delivery in the system, collecting the project documents from suppliers and clearing the invoice.

In addition, recommendations on the potential improvement sites in the purchasing processes were given based on the findings made in the empirical study.
Abstract (fin):Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tunnistaa projekti- ja kunnossapitoliiketoiminnassa käytetyt tehokkaat toimintotason hankintaprosessimallit.
Toimintotason hankintaprosesseilla tarkoitetaan sellaisia hankintaprosessikuvauksia, joissa kuvataan hankintaprosessiin kuuluvat toiminnot, muttei tarkemmin toimintoihin sisältyviä tehtäviä.

Tutkimuksessa pyritään saavuttamaan esitetty tavoite muodostamalla projekti- ja kunnossapitoliiketoiminnassa käytetyt tehokkaat toimintotason hankintaprosessimallit.
Hankintaprosessimallien muodostamisessa käytetään hyväksi kirjallisuusanalyysissä tunnistettuja projekti- ja kunnossapitoliiketoiminnan erityispiirteet huomioivia sekä yleisiä hankintaprosessimalleja sekä tutkimuksen empiirisessä osassa muodostettuja kohdeyrityksen liiketoimintaryhmien suorien materiaali- ja palveluhankintojen hankintaprosessien nykytilakuvauksia, hankintaprosessien kehityskohtia että niihin liittyviä kehitysideoita sekä liiketoimintaryhmille tutkimuksessa muodostettuja tehtävätason hankintaprosessien tavoitetilakuvauksia.

Tutkimuksessa muodostettiin yhdeksän toimintoa sisältävä projektiliiketoiminnan hankintaprosessimalli, jossa on kaksi selkeää vaihetta, tarjous- ja toteutusprosessi.
Tarjousprosessi sisältää hankintaprosessin kolme ensimmäistä toimintoa; asiakkaan tarpeen tunnistamisen ja päätöksen tarjousprosessin toteuttamisesta, hankintatarpeen ja alustavan hankintasuunnitelman määrittämisen sekä tarjousprojektin nettohinnan ja hankintaehtojen selvittämisen ja hankintasuunnitelman tarkentamisen.
Toteutusprosessissa suoritettavat toiminnot ovat avauskokouksen pitäminen, hankintasuunnitelman päivittäminen ja hankintatavan määrittäminen, tilauksen tekeminen ja tilausvahvistuksen tarkastaminen, toimitusten seuraaminen, vastaanottaminen ja kirjaaminen järjestelmään, luovutusaineiston kerääminen sekä laskun vastaanottaminen, tarkastaminen ja maksaminen.

Tutkimuksessa tunnistettu kunnossapitoliiketoiminnan hankintaprosessimalli muodostuu yhdestä vaiheesta, johon kuuluu seitsemän yleistä toimintoa; asiakkaan tarpeen tunnistaminen ja hankintatarpeen määrittäminen, hankintatavan määrittäminen, tilauksen tekeminen ja tilausvahvistuksen tarkastaminen, toimitusvalvonta, toimitusten vastaanottaminen, tarkastaminen ja kirjaaminen järjestelmään, ainestodistusten ja loppudokumentaatioiden vastaanottaminen sekä laskun käsitteleminen.

Lisäksi tutkimuksessa annettiin kohdeyritykselle suositukset hankintaprosessien kehittämiseksi perustuen tutkimuksessa tunnistettuihin hankintaprosessien kehityskohteisiin.
