Abstract (eng): | The motivation for writing this Master's Thesis is the need to develop the current software development business to enable organic growth and new ventures. This Master's Thesis has two main objectives. First, to analyze how software has been developed in the selected cases and to identify any patterns or processes, and second, to identify and fulfil requirements for improving the software development process. Five cases are studied using a semi-structured interview approach. The findings as well as outcomes of a literary review are discussed and requirements for process development are elicited. A new process model is synthesized and reviewed against the elicited requirements. The new process is based on the staged approach of PRINCE2 project management methodology. The creative yet systematic and practical Softmatch process development method is fitted into this framework, and the resulting process is placed in experience-based learning framework, itself based on modified Softmatch method. The new process model fulfils its requirements; however this model is merely the first step and one source of ideas in the evolving and emerging learning path. |
Abstract (fin): | Diplomityön taustalla on tarve kehittää kohdeyrityksen ohjelmistosuunnitteluliiketoimintaa siten, että orgaaninen kasvu sekä uusien liiketoimintasuuntien avaaminen mahdollistuisivat. Diplomityöllä on kaksi tavoitetta. |
