Abstract (eng): | Amount of mobile services has increased significantly during recent years due to the development of mobile terminals and wireless networks. However, mobile devices present their own challenges in the form of small screens and keyboards. Physical browsing can be used for enhancing the usability of mobile services and for also developing entirely new service concepts. The goal of this Thesis is to investigate how physical browsing can be utilized for implementing mobile services in the shopping centre environment. Two mobile services demos for the shopping centre environment are implemented using 2D- barcodes as a physical browsing technique. Usability tests are used to demonstrate that the service concepts work and can be implemented using the chosen technologies. 2D-barcode is identified as an easy to use and functional technique. |
Abstract (fin): | Mobiilipalveluiden tarjonta on päätelaitteiden kehityksen myötä kasvanut viime vuosina voimakkaasti. Mobiililaitteiden pieni näyttö ja näppäimistö aiheuttavat kuitenkin omat haasteensa palveluiden toteuttamiselle. Fyysisen selauksen hyödyntäminen mobiilipalveluissa on eräs keino parantaa palveluiden käytettävyyttä, ja kehittää myös täysin uusia palvelukonsepteja. Diplomityön tavoitteena on tutkia, miten fyysistä selausta voidaan hyödyntää kauppakeskusympäristöön liittyvissä mobiilipalveluissa. Työssä toteutetaan kaksi kauppakeskusympäristöön sijoittuvaa mobiilipalveludemoa, joissa fyysinen selaus on tehty käyttäen hyväksi 2D-viivakoodeja. Demotut palvelukonseptit osoitetaan käyttäjätestien avulla toimiviksi. Vastoin aikaisempaa tutkimusta, 2D-viivakoodit todetaan helppokäyttöisiksi ja toimiviksi. |
