Abstract (eng): | This thesis is a part of the development project of the log yard service concept financed by Mantsinen Group Ltd and TEKES. The objective of the study is to define a method to optimize material handling equipment for log yard operations to minimize operative costs by a linear model. The decision-making methodological approach is used to collect data related to factors of log yard operations, to explore productivity of operations and cost accounting to construct a linear model for optimizing material handling equipment. For testing applicability of the model operational data was gathered from Enocell pulp mill during the year 2004. The optimal combination of machines for operations at the log yard was defined by a linear model on the grounds of collected and produced data of the case. The calculation process was conducted by an application implemented for the needs of the study. Behaviour of the model and its results were explored by altering volumes of round wood to be operated. The constructed linear model and its resolution algorithm produced optimizing results in the working environment according to the objective of the study. On the basis of the results the applied method is suited for as a support instrument in design and decision-making in practice. However, while interpreting the results one has to notice that:. Models are simplifying existing reality. Model is a view of its designer about the problem in question. Such a logical and non-open system crystallizes information into just a few decision variables. While applying the constructed method it is not appropriate to adapt numerical results to practice as it stands, since the coefficients, parameters and restraints were chosen subjectively and in many cases as a result of compromises, are often more complex and varying processes in reality. Thereby the applicability of the results within decision making depends on reality of those factors. The decision-maker has to be conscious of the utilization grounds of the data and know circumstances and special features of log yard operations well. |
Abstract (fin): | Tämä diplomityö on osa TEKES:n ja Mantsinen Group Ltd Oy:n rahoittamaa Puukentän palvelukonseptin kehittämisprojektia. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on ollut kehittää menetelmä työkoneyhdistelmän optimoimiseksi puukenttäoperointiin minimoiden operoinnista aiheutuvia kustannuksia lineaarisen mallin avulla. Päätöksentekometodologiseen tutkimusotteeseen nojautuen tutkimuksessa kerättiin aineistoa puukenttäoperointiin liittyvistä tekijöistä, tarkasteltiin operoinnin tuottavuutta, siitä aiheutuvia kustannuksia ja niiden laskentaa sekä rakennettiin lineaarinen työkoneyhdistelmän optimoiva malli. Mallin käyttökelpoisuuden testaamiseksi kerättiin tietoa Enocellin sellutehtaan kuorimon puukenttäoperoinnista vuoden 2004 ajalta. Tutkimusmateriaalin ja sovellutustapauksesta kerätyn tiedon perusteella määritettiin lineaarisen mallin avulla optimaalinen työkoneyhdistelmä kyseisiin olosuhteisiin. Itse laskuprosessi suoritettiin tutkimuksen tarpeisiin toteutettua sovellusta käyttäen. |
