Abstract (eng): | The aim of this master's thesis is to determine whether building information modelling and parametric design can be used to improve constructability of concrete block structures and if so, how. Furthermore, this thesis aims to find out the technological and economical benefits of the design. This study uses one-family house as a building type and concrete cast blocks as clock types. The results can also be applied to other building and block types. The building information modelling of the entire building is analysed on a general level. Exact modelling is specifically developed for concrete blocks. This thesis evaluates the constructability of concrete block structures in the form of a questionnaire study directed to specialists in concrete block structures. On the basis of the results of the questionnaire study, specific problems in constructability are chosen for further analysis. Later, this study develops building information-based solutions to these problems. The results reveal repeated problem points in the constructability of concrete block structures which relate to accuracy and unambiguity of plans. As a requirement for modelling, this study determines an exact and realistic presentation of the limits of concrete blocks. Possibilities for presenting the limits of the blocks and the effects of designing the block layout are examined with raster-based methods. However, using raster does not produce a working solution for presenting the limits of the blocks. The exact block by block modelling of concrete blocks is realized by an object-based parametric design. A visual programming environment called Autodesk Dynamo is used to produce an algorithm to automatically position concrete block objects to a simple wall surface. A working algorithm proves that a parametric design of concrete block structures is currently possible with available tools. The modelling is tested by an example plan design in which the algorithm is improved by additional manual modelling. The evaluation of the effects of the exact block by block modelling to constructability showed that the model brings added value and accuracy to the plans. This affects the constructability positively. Moreover, modelling enables automation from the first stages of production until the installation of concrete blocks. |
Harkkorakenteiden käytännön rakennettavuutta arvioidaan harkkorakentamisen asiantuntijoille suunnatulla kyselytutkimuksella. Kyselytutkimuksen perusteella valitaan tarkasteluun rakennettavuuden ongelmakohtia, joihin haetaan ratkaisuja tietomallinnuksen avulla. Tarkka harkkokappalekohtainen mallinnus toteutetaan objektikohtaisella parametrisella suunnittelulla. Autodesk Dynamo-laajennusosan visuaalisella koodauksella ohjelmoidaan algoritmi, joka sijoittaa automaattisesti harkkokappaleet aukottamattomalle seinäpinnalle. Algoritmin toimivuus todistaa harkkorakenteiden parametrisen suunnittelun nykyisillä ohjelmistoilla mahdolliseksi. Mallinnuskäytäntöä testataan esimerkkikohteen suunnittelussa, jossa käytetään kehitettyä algoritmiä täydennettynä manuaalisella mallinnustyöllä. Harkkojen tarkan kappalekohtaisen mallinnuksen vaikutuksia rakennettavuuteen arvioidessa todetaan mallin tuovan suunnitelmiin lisäarvoa ja tarkkuutta, jotka vaikuttavat positiivisesti käytännön rakennettavuuteen. Mallinnus mahdollistaa pitkälle viedyn automaation harkkojen tuotannosta aina työmaalle asti. |
