Abstract (eng):The purpose of this work is to improve the PIFA widely used in mobile phones.
A single band antenna was used for comparison.
The effect of material parameters on the performance of the antenna was studied.
According to the theoretical investigation, inductive loading of the patch has to be performed, or filling with a material with a high permeability value.

Inductive loading was realized by changing the patch surface.
The investigation started with creating cuts in the patch.
Different impedance uniform grids that were estimated to give the desired impedance for the electromagnetic waves were used.
Finally in that direction corrugated surfaces like a "mushroom structure" were used as a ground surface below the patch.
The mushroom structure was designed to operate at a region below the resonance in order to have inductive impedance.

Change in the shape of all other elements of the antenna has been considered as well.
Mutual coupling between the patch and the ground was found to have a great effect on the bandwidth of the antenna.

After the theoretical investigation for verification of the results, prototypes of the antenna with newly designed patches were created and measured.
