You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): This thesis introduces an implementation of outsourcing of MEMS testing.
A project, where production of three axis angular rate sensor is outsourced to subcontractors, is introduced and MEMS testing is explained as a part of the production line.
Impact of the outsourcing on the company is researched.

In the theory section, it's discussed what are the benefits and risks regarding outsourcing.
MEMS technology and working principles of an angular rate sensor are introduced and the idea of MEMS testing is explained.

The project is gone through step by step from a perspective of a test design engineer.
After justifying the reasons, a suitable subcontractor is chosen to fit outsourcer's needs.
In co-operation of the two companies, a production test system is designed and integrated to match the subcontractor's facilities and to correspond the outsourcer's prerequisites.
In the end, methods for defining the functionality and reliability of the tester are introduced.

On the basis of results, outsourcing of MEMS testing has been a success for both of the partners.
The benefits obtained by outsourcing overcome the risks associated with it.
As a future development, the test system should be developed faster as it has such a great influence on the production costs.
Abstract (fin): Tämä diplomityö käsittelee MEMS-testauksen ulkoistamista projektin avulla, jossa kulmanopeusanturin tuotanto siirretään alihankkijoiden tuotettavaksi.
Työssä tutkitaan mitä vaikutteita MEMS-testauksen ulkoistamisella on ulkoistavan yrityksen toimintaan.

Teoriaosuudessa käydään läpi ulkoistamista käsitteenä sekä kerrotaan mitä hyötyjä ulkoistamisella haetaan ja mitä riskejä siihen liittyy.
Lisäksi kerrotaan lyhyesti MEMS-teknologiasta sekä -antureista ja siitä, mihin testausta tarvitaan.

Ulkoistamisprojekti käydään läpi vaihe kerrallaan testauskehittäjän näkökulmasta.
Ulkoistamistarve perustellaan tuotantoketjun osaprosessina ja tehdään valinta tarvittavasta yhteistyökumppanista.
Yhteistyömallin avulla yksityiskohtainen testausjärjestelmä integroidaan päähankkijan tarpeiden ja alihankkijan tehdasvaatimusten mukaisesti.
Lopuksi siirretyn mittausjärjestelmän toiminta ja laatu varmistetaan.

Tulosten perusteella voidaan todeta MEMS-testauksen ulkoistamisen onnistuneen vaatimusten mukaisesti eikä ulkoistamisella ollut vaikutusta mittausjärjestelmän toimintaan.
Ulkoistamisella saavutettavat hyödyt ovat siihen liittyvien riskien arvoisia.
Testausjärjestelmää tulee jatkossa kehittää nopeammaksi tuotantokustannusten laskemiseksi.
