Abstract (eng): | Portal robots are automation equipments belonging to industrial robots of which the movements take place in linear coordinates. Portal robots are mainly used to transport products from workstation to another. The accuracy of portal robot is a fundamental requirement for the operation of a system. Erikkilä Nostotekniikkaa Oy (Ltd) is first and foremost a crane manufacturer but also a manufacturer of portal robots based on crane technology. Any measured data on the accuracy of robots manufactured by the company did not exist. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the impact of different components on the accuracy of robotic cranes of Erikkilä Nostotekniikkaa Oy. The objective of this thesis was to find that combination of components, which can cost-effectively optimize the accuracy of a modular portal robot based on light crane system to less than ±1 mm pose repeatability. The objective was also to prove that less than ±1 mm accuracy is achievable with light crane system linear profiles. The thesis was carried out as case-study. A portal robot made of light crane system modules was manufactured and definition with different combinations of components was investigated. 3D forward section in space (EPLA) method was used to measure different combinations of components and over 5280 coordinate positions were measured. With the help of Taguchi -method it was possible to examine a large number of component combinations in a reasonable number of experiments. Measuring results were analyzed by using Taguchi signal/noise -ratio and orthogonal matrices. At the same time application of the Taguchi -method as an industrial engineering design tool was learned. As a result of this study the optimal combination of components was discovered and better understanding of the impact of different components to the accuracy was gained. As a result of this thesis new development targets were found and their study was started. |
Abstract (fin): | Porttaalirobotit ovat teollisuusrobotteihin kuuluvia automaatiolaitteita, joissa liikkeet tapahtuvat lineaarikoordinaatistossa. Porttaalirobotteja käytetään pääasiassa tuotteiden siirtoon työpisteestä toiseen. Porttaalirobotin tarkkuus on laitteiston toiminnan perusvaatimus. |
