Abstract (eng): | A building information model (BIM) is a digital sum of the information gathered through the life-cycle of a building and its processes. A complete BIM contains accurate information of geometrics, information content and other relevant data required for supporting construction and procurement activities. The level of detail of building information modelling fundamentally affects the functionality of the modelling process. The goal of this master's thesis was to study what the level of detail and the information content of an HVAC BIM should be in different construction phases. The goal of BIM is to produce a model as accurately and cost efficiently as possible. An accurate model decreases the chance of problems in the construction phase, but a model that is too accurate is unnecessary if no one can use can utilize it at that point in time or if the designs are still most likely going to change. Model conflicts and other such problems cause extra work and extra expenses. The optimal geometric level of detail was researched by studying models of five different buildings with a clash detection tool. The goal was to assess the most common types of errors and their location, gravity etc. and determine how different types of clashes affect the design process as well as the construction process in terms of resources spent on correcting them. The optimal geometric tolerance for models and specific components were based on those results and component specific modelling instructions for the level of detail and information content requirements were formed. In addition, the utilization of BIMs during the construction phase and how BIMs can help enhance certain design processes was researched in this thesis. The results showed that the error type distribution followed a certain trend in all models. Approximately 90 % of the clashes had an error distance of 0,002 - 0,1 meters and the quantity of errors grows more rapidly in this area compared to clashes with an error distance of 0,11 meters and above. Based on this, the optimal tolerance limit for HVAC models could be set to 0,1 meters. This means that all clashes with a minimum error distance of 10 cm should be solved during the design phase due to a more manageable count and smaller errors can be solved during the construction phase. |
Abstract (fin): | Rakennuksen tietomalli on rakennuksen ja rakennusprosessin elinkaaren aikaisten tietojen digitaalinen kokonaisuus. Tietomallien optimaalista geometrista tarkkuustasoa selvitettiin tutkimalla viiden eri kohteen yhdistelmämalleja. Tutkimus suoritettiin tarkastelemalla törmäystarkastelutyökalulla saatuja törmäystuloksia. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli törmäystarkasteluiden avulla löytää tavanomaisimmat mallinnusvirheet ja selvittää niiden korjaamiseen tarvittavien resurssien määrä sekä virheiden mahdolliset vaikutukset rakennusprosessin myöhempiin vaiheisiin. Näiden tulosten avulla pyrittiin löytämään optimaalinen toleranssiraja kanava- ja putkistoverkostoille, jota mallinnuksessa tulisi noudattaa, ja laadittiin komponenttikohtaiset ohjeet eri suunnitteluvaiheiden tarkkuustason ja tietosisällön vaateille. Lisäksi työssä selvitettiin, kuinka tietomalleja voidaan hyödyntää työmaalla ja miten tietomallinnusta ja suunnitteluun kuuluvia osaprosesseja voidaan tehostaa. Tutkimuksen tuloksista nähtiin, että virhejakauma seuraa tiettyä trendiä jokaisen kohteen jokaisen järjestelmän törmäyksissä. Noin 90 % törmäyksistä on 0,002 -0,1 metrin virhe-etäisyyden alueella ja törmäysten määrän kasvu nousee tällä alueella suhteessa huomattavasti enemmän suuremman virhe-etäisyyden omaaviin virheisiin verrattuna. Tämän perusteella toleranssirajaksi kanava- ja putkistoverkostoille sopisi 0,1 m eli kaikki yli l0 cm virhe-etäisyyden omaavat törmäykset voidaan korjata mallinnusvaiheessa niiden pienemmän määrän takia ja pienemmät virheet voidaan selvittää vasta työmaalla. |
