Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

In the closed network of Learning Centre you can read digital and digitized theses not available in the open network.

You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): The purpose of this research is to define the information system competence in a Finnish industrial company.
In addition, the study explores the training needs concerning the use of organizations ERP system.

In the theoretical part of the research information systems competence is viewed as a part of the organizations knowledge management.
The goal is to find out what knowledge management is and how it can be used in studying information systems expertise.
A broad perspective offers a new way of looking at information systems expertise.
The study focuses on Information technology learning and training strategies.
This research also explores the utilization of these strategies.

The research method for this study is semi-structured interviews.
In total eleven technical salespersons were interviewed for this study.
The four interview themes were selected so that they were closely bound to the research questions.

The biggest challenge of the organization at the moment is the lack of systematic training.
The organization does not have IT-learning or IT-training strategies, which typically form the background of effective information system training.
At the moment the employees are themselves solely responsible for their own learning.
There is room for improvement, since a well-managed learning is the background of a constantly improving organization.
Hence the organization has to create IT-learning and IT-training strategies for the employees, to support continuous learning.
Abstract (fin): Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää suomalaisessa teknisen kaupan erikoisliikkeessä työskentelevien teknisten myyjien tietojärjestelmäosaaminen.
Lisäksi tutkimuksessa selvitetään teknisten myyjien koulutustarve organisaation käytössä olevan tietojärjestelmän osalta.

Tutkimuksen kirjallisuuskatsauksessa tarkastellaan tietojärjestelmäosaamista osana osaamisen johtamista.
Tavoitteena on selvittää mitä osaamisen johtaminen on ja miten sitä voidaan hyödyntää tietojärjestelmäosaamista tutkittaessa.
Laaja näkökulma tarjoaa uudenlaisen tavan tarkastella tietojärjestelmäosaamista.
Tietojärjestelmäkoulutuksen osalta tutkimuksessa keskitytään IT-oppimis- ja IT-koulutusstrategiaan ja niiden hyödyntämiseen tietojärjestelmäosaamisen kehittämisessä.

Tutkimusmenetelmäksi on tässä tutkimuksessa valittu haastattelu.
Tutkimuksessa haastateltiin yhtätoista organisaatiossa toimivaa teknistä myyjää.
Haastattelut suoritettiin teemahaastatteluina.
Haastatteluiden teemat valittiin tutkimuskysymysten rajaaman aihepiirin mukaan.

Tutkimuksen perusteella organisaation suurin haaste on tällä hetkellä systemaattisen koulutuksen puuttuminen.
Organisaatiolta puuttuvat sekä IT-oppimis- että IT-koulutusstrategiat, jotka tyypillisesti ovat tehokkaan tietojärjestelmäkoulutuksen taustalla.
Vastuu työntekijöiden oppimisesta ja osaamisesta on työntekijöillä itsellään.
Tähän on syytä kiinnittää huomiota, sillä hyvin johdettu oppiminen ja osaaminen ovat tehokkaan ja jatkuvasti kehittyvän organisaation taustalla.
Organisaation tulee ehdottomasti luoda itselleen IT-oppimisstrategia ja sen toteuttamiseen vaadittava IT-koulutusstrategia.
Organisaation tavoitteena tulee olla jatkuva oppiminen.
