Abstract (eng): | This research studies the suitability of real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop -simulation in testing of hydraulic dampers. With HiL-simulation the aim is to create a virtual, realistic operational environment for the damper under test. The system includes a plant model and a real-time interface to embed the damper as part of the simulation. The literature part of the study discusses the requirements of real-time HiL-simulation and results from earlier studies. Feasibility and possible limitations of the method in damper testing were investigated with the use of computer simulations and an experimental HiL-set-up. The goal was to construct a virtual plant model and to establish a working interface between the plant and damper under test. The real-time plant model was created using Simulink and xPC-Target software. Motion described by the plant model was produced using a hydraulic actuator and the damping force generated was measured using a load sensor. Measured damping force was then fed back to the plant model. HiL-simulation was found to be a functional method for testing damper hardware. Testing done with the HiL-set-up produced consistent results with good repeatability. The actuator was able to produce the motion of the plant model with good accuracy, giving a realistic damping force in the system. It should be noted though, that without a point of comparison the definitive accuracy of the results is hard to determine. The most substantial limitation of the system was found out to be the caused by actuator dynamics in the real-time simulation. With fast movements the actuator was unable to produce required movement or caused significant phase lag. With further development in improving actuator dynamics HiL-method holds a lot of potential and the included plant model also makes it suitable for testing semi-active and active dampers. |
Abstract (fin): | Tässä työssä on tutkittu reaaliaikaisen Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) -simuloinnin soveltuvuutta vaimennintestaukseen. HiL-simuloinnin todettiin olevan toimiva konsepti vaimennintestauksessa. Toimilaite kykeni tuottamaan prosessimallin liikkeen vaimentimelle hyvällä tarkkuudella, jolloin vaimenninvoimajärjestelmässä on realistinen. Saatujen mittaustulosten tarkkuuden arviointia vaikeuttaa kuitenkin vertailukohteen puuttuminen. |
