Abstract (eng): | With increasing demands in product quality, decreasing batch sizes and product life span becoming shorter, manufacturing advances will continue to go to the companies that embrace automation and productivity performance initiatives. The primary issue facing manufacturers in the coming years is the lack of skilled labour as the baby boomer generation retires. Consequently, a trend that continues to contribute to manufacturing productivity gains is the growth in the implementation of robotic systems. They are flexible, programmable and can be used 24 hours a day. This Master's Thesis defines some guidelines for robot applications design and discusses how to create a simulation model for a robotic system, as well as what needs to be addressed when implementing offline programming for a robot cell. There are plenty of programs for simulation and offline programming of industrial robots. This thesis categorises the most known ones and describes one program from each category. As a part of this thesis, a 3D simulation model was created for the robot system located in the Production Engineering laboratory of Aalto University' s School of Science and Technology. The robot system is used for research and teaching purposes. It has been previously programmed by using a teach pendant and now the simulation model makes offline programming and simulation possible. The model was created in Dassault Systemes' DELMIA V5. It offers a solution for tooling definition, workcell layout, robot programming, and workcell simulation. Robotic simulation and offline programming are powerful tools that can be used in various different ways - from designing and analysing a robotic system before investment to perfecting the production process of a new product. |
Abstract (fin): | Tuotteiden laatuvaatimuksien kasvaessa, eliniän lyhentyessä ja eräkokojen pienentyessä tulee tuotantoa kehittää entistä tasaisempaa ja parempaa laatua tuottavaksi sekä joustavammaksi. |
