Abstract (eng): In this thesis multivariate statistical methods, mostly principal component analysis and partial least squares method were used to find possible higher level modes.
These modes or local longer-term variable averages of a flotation process could tell us information about the current state of the process.
Furthermore it was also studied, if these modes could be used to predict recovery or grade of the final product.
Before applying the ideas to real data, a simple simulation model was created to test the methods.
It was shown that it is indeed possible to find modes from the data by using principal component analysis.
Furthermore it was also shown that the modes can be used to predict recovery, if the modes have been defined correctly.
Abstract (fin): Tässä työssä on tilastollisten monimuuttujamenetelmien eli lähinnä pääkomponenttianalyysin ja osittaisen pienimmän neliösumman menetelmän avulla tutkittu onko vaahdotusprosessista löydettävissä erillisiä ylemmän tason toimintatiloja.
Toimintatiloilla tässä yhteydessä tarkoitetaan muuttujien pidemmän aikavälin lokaaleja keskiarvoja, joiden avulla voitaisiin havainnoida, missä tilassa prosessi sattuu sillä hetkellä olemaan.
Lisäksi työssä tutkittiin olisiko näiden toimintatilojen avulla mahdollista ennustaa halutun mineraalin saanti tai pitoisuus lopputuotteessa.
Menetelmien testausta varten kehitettiin ensin yksinkertaistettu simulointimalli ennen siirtymistä todellisen datan pariin.
Osoittautui, että toimintatiloja on mahdollista löytää vaahdotusprosessista pääkomponenttianalyysin avulla.
Toimintatilojen avulla osoittautui myös mahdolliseksi saannin ennustaminen kunhan toimintatilat on määritelty oikein.
