Abstract (eng): | During the years from 2000 to 2010 Finnish corporations established design and manufacturing facilities in China, India, Eastern Europe and South America. Several corporations were faced with challenges of managing their design work in global environment. The objective of this work is to formulate a methodology for designing product data management (PDM) architecture for global design environment and to design tools for managing these global systems. Some theoretical background and the components of the product data management are described. These basic concepts are made more concrete by studying structure and usage of global functionality of one commercial PDM-system. The core of the practical sections of this work concentrates on connecting separate PDM sites as a global design environment. This work contains methods for analyzing network performance, designing the structure of global PDM system and using its global functionality. Work introduces also tools that were developed to compare differences between separate PDM installations and to transfer large product structures from site to site across unreliable networks. The PDM-system researched can be proven to be effective in global design environment and the tools designed during this work are used frequently in PDM of five Finnish corporations. |
Tämän työn tarkoituksena on muodostaa menetelmä, jolla voidaan suunnitella tuotetiedonhallintajärjestelmän (PDM-järjestelmän) rakenne globaalia ympäristöä varten, sekä kehittää ohjelmistotyökaluja näiden globaalien järjestelmien hallitsemiseksi. |
