Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): This thesis estimates the fracture probability of the pressurizer surge line located in the Loviisa 1 Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
This thesis utilizes the information that the surge line is the most probable fracture location in the primary circuit of Loviisa 1 NPP and with this information the LLOCA (Large Loss-of-Coolant Accident) estimation is updated in the risk study.

To be able to establish the fracture probability a deterministic analysis is performed at first.
In the analysis it is confirmed, that an unstable break of the surge line cannot occur.
Calculations are executed based on the United Sates (NRC) and Swedish (SSM) nuclear regulators' recommendations.
The second Simple Monte-Carlo simulation is accomplished using the information from the deterministic analysis and the conditional fracture probability for the surge line is obtained.
The OPDE pipe fracture database is used to achieve the failure frequency.

Based on the calculations an unstable break of the surge line will not happen before noticing the leak.
The conditional fracture probability of the surge line is 1.32E-04 and the LLOCA frequency is estimated to be 1.09E-05/a.
Abstract (fin): Tässä diplomityössä määritetään todennäköisyys Loviisan ydinvoimalaitoksen paineistimen yhdyslinjan murtumalle.
Työssä käytetään hyväksi tietoa, että paineistimen yhdyslinja on todennäköisin sijainti primääripiirin murtumalle Loviisa 1 ydinvoimalaitoksessa.
Tämän tiedon perusteella päivitetään LLOCA-arvio (Large Lossof-Coolant Accident) riskitutkimukseen.

Jotta voidaan määrittää todennäköisyys murtumalle, suoritetaan ensin putkelle deterministinen analyysi, jossa varmistutaan särön kasvusta ainoastaan stabiililla alueella.
Deterministinen murtuman arvioiminen suoritetaan sekä Yhdysvaltojen (NRC) että Ruotsin (SSM) ydinvoimaviranomaisten suositusten mukaan.
Deterministisestä analyysista saatujen tietojen avulla ja käyttämällä yksinkertaista Monte Carlo -simulaatiota määritetään yhdyslinjalle ehdollisen murtumatodennäköisyyden arvio.
OPDE-putkimurtumatietokannan perusteella arvioidaan tapahtumatietoihin perustuen vikataajuus.

Laskelmien perusteella paineistimen yhdyslinjassa ei tapahdu epästabiilia murtumista ennen kuin vuoto havaitaan.
Yhdyslinjan murtuman todennäköisyydeksi saadaan 1,32E-04.
LLOCA-arvioksi puolestaan saadaan 1,09E-05/a.
