Abstract (eng): In December 2004, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) launched the study item on the Universal Terrestrial Radio Access network (UTRAN) Long Term Evolution (LTE) to achieve a high-data-rate, low-latency and packet-optimized radio access technology.
LTE is the label mark for the 4th Generation (4G) mobile system.

In this thesis, a novel method of constructing femtocell and macrocell network under LTE standard is studied, providing an overview of LTE system architecture, radio access technology and radio resource management methods with femtocell concept involved.
This thesis discusses the positive and negative effect of using femtocell in LTE, specifically, interference mitigation methods are provided for both co-layer and cross-layer networks.

Scheduling and power control (PC) is crucial for mitigating interference between femtocell and macrocell as well as increasing system capacity in both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL).
Based on the simulator provided by supervisor, an overall configuration and performance evaluation of the LTE PC in Macro cell with Femtocell Base Station (FBS) deployment scenarios is tested with different PC parameter settings.
This work applies Fractional Power Control (FPC) and Frequency-Domain Scheduling (SFDS) scheme, which can separate the spectrum usage from FUEs and MUEs in a probabilistic manner.
The simulation result proves that SFDS can significantly mitigate the strong interference from Macrocell User Equipment (MUE) in UL and FBS in DL.

Traditional literature and the most recent publications were drawn on as a source of information.
