Abstract (eng): | This thesis required for a diploma is based on a development project at Valio. The aim of this project was to define Valio's future challenges and developmental prospects. At the same time, to ensure Valio's ability to meet future challenges, a logistics guidance system was defined. One of the main discoveries of this project was a description of how the present management practice should be transformed into process management and faster in its nature. It should be possible to react to daily problems so that they are recognized even in advance. This means naturally an organizational change and a new division of responsibilities between Valio's different areas of operation. Furthermore, the model described in this thesis would require changes in the information technology. Another essential developmental aim was to change the logistics organization and its responsibility so that the national management could better co-ordinate decisions at the national level. Regionality, which disables the control of operations as a whole, was considered to be the weakness of strong regional management. This thesis describes, at times in great detail, the control and developing of the different logistics sectors. In fact, one aim of this thesis was to describe a logistics guidance system by questioning the current, traditional lines of action and to produce, in an innovative way, new ideas to modernizations realized by additional, specifying projects |
Abstract (fin): | Diplomityön perustana oli Valiossa tehty kehitysprojekti, jossa määriteltiin Valion tulevaisuuden haasteita ja kehitysnäkymiä. |
