You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):The purpose of the research is to establish the holding principles of management system for a small building contractor.
This management system should add value both to company's organization and customers while conserving the scarce resources of a small organization.
Should the competition in building contracting draw tighter, contractors gain pressure for quality management and loss prevention.

In the literary review of the research quality thinking and process-based approach are presented in order to attain the contactor's objectives and the stakeholders' demands.
Theme-centered interview is used as a method of gathering information.
Interviews expand the knowledge of the present practices of management.
The management system is established upon literature, interviews and a workshop.

The research results indicate that the present management system based on document management and experience is deficient in ensuring continuous quality improvement and success.
As a solution to this problem a management system is introduced, which guides the organization to process mapping, modeling and built-in quality thinking.

It is expedient, according to the research, that the employees distinguish the workflow of the company as a whole instead of mainly concentrating on minimizing the losses in a hectic project environment.
Therefore the research considers means to enhance the level of employees understanding of quality and management system.
It indicates the blind spots in the small contractor's activities and offers suggestions to advance quality thinking.
Abstract (fin):Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on muodostaa ratkaisuperiaatteet pienen rakennusliikkeen toimintajärjestelmälle, joka tuottaa yritykselle ja sen asiakkaille lisäarvoa, auttaa projektikäytäntöjen kehittämisessä ja soveltuu kuormittavuudeltaan organisaation luonteeseen.
Kun kilpailu rakennusurakoinnissa kiristyy taantuman aikaan, rakennusliikkeen projektiliiketoiminnassa korostuvat laaduntuottokyky ja hukan minimoiminen.

Tutkimukseen sisältyvässä kirjallisuuskatsauksessa avataan laatuajattelua ja prosessimaista lähestymistapaa rakennusliikkeen tavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi ja sidosryhmien tarpeiden tyydyttämiseksi.
Aineistonkeruumenetelmänä käytetään teemahaastattelua.
Haastattelujen avulla selvitetään yrityksen johtamiskäytäntöjä.
Toimintajärjestelmä rakennetaan kirjallisuuden, haastatteluiden ja työpajan perusteella.

Tuloksena havaitaan, että nykyinen dokumenttienhallintaan ja kokemukseen perustuva johtamiskulttuuri on riittämätön takaamaan jatkuvaa laadun parantamista ja menestystä.
Ongelman ratkaisuehdotuksena esitetään johtamisjärjestelmää, joka ohjaa prosessien kartoittamiseen ja mallintamiseen siten, että niihin voidaan sisäänrakentaa laatuajattelua.

Tutkimuksen mukaan on tarkoituksenmukaista, että työntekijät näkevät rakennusliikkeen toiminnan kokonaisuutena sen sijaan, että he keskittyisivät ainoastaan kustannusten minimoimiseen hektisessä projektitoiminnassa.
Tutkimus pyrkii lisäämään rakennusliikkeen työntekijöiden laatuajattelun ja johtamisjärjestelmän tuntemusta.
Se osoittaa katvealueita pienen rakennusliikkeen toiminnassa sekä tarjoaa ehdotuksia laatuajat-telun edistämiseksi.
