Keywords: | innovation diffusion Nordic China FDI energy efficiency environmental sustainability |
Abstract (eng): | The objective of the thesis is to identify the critical factors in successful innovation diffusion from previous studies and examine these factors in the Sino-Nordic context. First of all, critical factors in successful innovation diffusion are identified through literature review. These factors are then sorted mainly from perspectives of innovation providers and innovation adopters. To examine these factors in the Sino-Nordic context, this paper investigates China's growth demands from its growth pattern, reveals the growth dynamics behind China's further growth, evaluates the absorptive capabilities of China, and points out the potential challenges and institutional structures. Energy efficiency and environmental sustainability appear to be two major challenges in China's healthy development. From the view of innovation providers, this paper examines the possibilities of speeding up diffusions of Nordic innovations to China based on the demands in China's future growth. In this regard, advantages of the Nordic innovations and innovation management are discovered in terms of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. Meanwhile, the compatibility between Nordic innovations and China's needs and absorptive capability is verified under a fuzzy model. Hence, Nordic innovations that will improve energy efficacy and maintain environmental sustainability are claimed potential in the Chinese market. |
