Reading digital theses in the closed network of the Aalto University Harald Herlin Learning Centre

You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): In recent years the importance of fluorescence measurement as a research technique has increased and the applications where it is used vary from research to medical diagnostics and industry.

The difficulty of comparing results from different measurement systems and laboratories has been inhibiting faster growth of using fluorescence measurement in different research fields.
The answer to the problem is standard samples with the help of which measurement systems can be compared.
New standard samples need to be developed and examined to different purposes and measurement systems for these applications need to he developed.

Different applications use different measurement geometries and that has to be considered in the development of standard samples.
Measurement systems that are able to measure with various measurement geometries are needed.
That is why the goniofluorometer has been developed.

The objective of this work was to develop the Lab view program that controls the operation of the goniofluorometer at the Metrology Research Institute, in addition, efforts have been given to provide the analysis of data necessary for determining bispectral luminescent radiance factor and quantum yield of relevant fluorescent standard materials, and to characterize the measurement system.
Abstract (fin): Viime vuosina fluoresenssin käyttö tutkimusmenetelmänä on kasvattanut suosiotaan.
Käyttökohteet vaihtelevat tutkimuksesta lääketieteelliseen diagnostiikkaan ja teollisuuteen.

Vertailun vaikeus eri mittalaitteistojen ja laboratorioiden välillä on hidastanut fluoresenssin käytön kasvua eri tutkimus aloilla.
Ratkaisu tähän ongelmaan on standardinäytteet, joiden avulla mittalaitteita voidaan vertailla.
Erilaisiin käyttökohteisiin tulee kehittää ja tutkia uusia standardinäytteitä.
Myös vastaavia mittalaitteita tulee kehittää.

Erilaisissa sovelluksissa käytetään erilaisia mittausgeometrioita ja se on otettava huomioon standardinäytteitä kehitettäessä.
Tarvitaan mittalaitteita, joilla voidaan mitata useissa eri mittausgeometrioissa.
Siksi on kehitetty goniofluorometri.

Tämän työn tavoitteena oli kehittää Labview-ohjelmaa, joka ohjaa Mittaustekniikan goniofluorometrin toimintaa.
Lisäksi on pyritty toteuttamaan mittaustulosten analyysi, jota tarvitaan bispektraalisen luminesentin radianssikertoimen ja kvanttihyötysuhteen laskemiseen sekä karakterisoimaan mittalaitteisto.
