You can read theses on the Learning Centre customer computers, which are available on all floors.

Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng): Target of this study was to clarify conditions in chip pile and continuous cooking affecting pulp yield.
Phenomenon in chip pile and variables in the cook like chip size, liquid to wood ratio and chemical charge are studied in literary research concerning cooking yield.

Chip pile turnover time and temperature inside the pile were determined.
According to the results the pile turn over time was found to be too short for the phenomenon that reduces the yield.

To find out the cooking conditions, balance calculation was done using streams arriving and leaving the cooking area to resolve the amount of wood entering to the digester.
The outcome of the calculations was that the out measured wood amount was too little in relation to the chemical dose.
Parameters in wood dosage were changed and a new balance calculation was made.

With new parameters the calculated yield rose.
White liquor, wash liquor and steam consumption were decreased per produced pulp ton.
Black liquor lignin content per ton of wood did not change but the organic compound per pulp ton decreased in black liquor stream to evaporation.
According to this study wood economy of the fiberline was improved and the goal of the study was reached concerning the chip pile and cooking conditions.
Abstract (fin): Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää hakkeen varastoinnin ja jatkuvatoimisen keiton olosuhteiden vaikutusta sellusaantoon.
Kirjallisuusosassa perehdytään hakekasavarastoinnissa tapahtuviin ilmiöihin sekä jatkuvatoimisen keiton muuttujien kuten hake, alkalipuusuhde ja nestepuusuhde vaikutuksiin saannossa.

Hakekassalla tutkittiin kasan kiertoaikaa ja lämpötilaa.
Tulosten perusteella todettiin hakekasan kiertoajan olevan liian lyhyt, jotta siinä tapahtuvat ilmiöt pienentäisivät saantoa merkittävästi.

Keiton olosuhteiden määrittämiseksi suoritettiin taselaskenta keittämön virroista, minkä perusteella määritettiin keittimeen annosteltava puumäärä.
Taseen tuloksista havaittiin keittimeen annosteltavan liian vahan haketta suhteessa kemikaaleihin.
Hakelaskennan parametreja muutettiin ja laskettiin uusi tase.

Uusilla parametreilla laskennallinen saanto parani.
Myös valkolipeän, pesulipeän ja höyryn kulutus väheni tuotettua sellutonnia kohti.
Haihduttamolle menevän mustalipeän ligniinipitoisuus puutonnia kohden ei muuttunut, mutta orgaanisen aineksen määrä sellutonnia kohti väheni virrassa haihduttamolle.
Tutkimuksen perusteella kuitulinjan puutalous parani ja työlle asetetut tavoitteet saavutettiin hakekasan ja keiton osalta.
