Abstract (eng): The construction industry has long been suffering from lack of cooperation, trust and ineffective communication.
These factors often lead to adversarial relationships between the participating parties.
Because of early decision making in design and procurement systems, traditional procurement methods fail to utilize the whole capacity of the project team.
Traditional methods also fail to develop the project along the way.
They also encourage the participating parties to strive for personal gain while other parties fail.

Project alliances have been successfully implemented in Australia, mainly in large and complicated infrastructure projects.
In the US integrated project delivery have reached successful contracts, building integrated and risk-sharing project teams in the construction business.
The purpose of this study is to create a procurement model, based on the Australian project alliance, which could be implemented in the Finnish construction business, mainly for construction project in the range of 10-40 million euros.

The procurement model created in this study is a good general model for how to procure a successful alliance team.
Anyway, it should be noted that the alliance is meant for project based business and therefore, because of varying quality and objectives, each project should be individually evaluated.
Especially the composition of the alliance team is a factor which should be carefully evaluated in each project because different project requires different sets of skills.
The greatest challenge in implementing project a1liancing in the Finnish construction business is probably the need of a cultural change in the whole industry.

Australiassa projektiallianssia on käytetty menestyksekkäästi, etenkin suurissa infrahankkeissa.
Myös Yhdysvalloissa on menestyksekkäästi luotu yhteistoimintaa ja riskien jakoon perustuvia sopimusmalleja joita on käytetty talonrakennushankkeissa.
Tämän tutkimuksen tavoite on kehittää olemassa olevista, allianssin arvoihin perustuvista, projektimalleista projektiallianssin perustamismalli, joka soveltuu keskisuuriin talonrakennushankkeisiin Suomessa.

Tutkimuksessa syntynyt allianssin perustamisprosessin kaavio on yleisellä tasolla hyvä ohjekartta allianssin perustamiselle, mutta tarkempi sisältö on pääasiassa projektikohtaista ja riippuu paljon projektin laadusta ja tilaajan tavoitteista.
Varsinkin allianssin organisaation kokoonpano on tapauskohtainen ratkaisu.
Eri projektit vaativat erilaisia organisaatioita tavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi.
Kulttuurimuutoksen tarve ja muutosvastarinnan kukistaminen luo kuitenkin eniten haastetta allianssin muodostamisessa.
