Abstract (eng): | This master's thesis was a part of the master studies in Aalto University. This study focused on log turner instruments and it was completed with help from UPM-Kymmene Oyj and Alholma Sawmill. These log turner instruments were supplied by Lisker Oy. The actual research topic was to verify the log rotation accuracy and how the Profi-TC affects the yield. The study was first conducted with a preliminary test and the actual test was completed after that. The study was conducted in two parts: line test and TC on/off. The line test studied how the actual turning process works and the TC on/off examined how useful the Profi-TC machine is and how it affects to the yield. For the line test, the ends of the logs were marked with a line, which made it possible to measure the rotation angle from the video footage. All the results are indexed. Comparing the preliminary test and the actual test showed that the rotation errors and dispersion decreased. Rotation errors decreased 0.13° (average) and dispersion decreased 0.07°(average). The study at Alholma showed that when the log turner instrument (Profi-TC) works properly, the yield is better than without it. |
Abstract (fin): | Diplomityö tehtiin osana puutekniikan diplomi-insinöörin opintoja ja tutkimukset tehtiin UPM-Kymmene Oyj:n sahalla Alholmassa Pietarsaaressa. TC päällä/pois testissä selvisi, että tämän hetkisellä Profi-TC:n tarkkuudella, Profi-TC:n rahallinen merkitys tuhatta valmista sahatavarakuutiota kohden on noin 5-70 . Näin ollen teoreettisesti Alholman sahausmäärillä Profi-TC:n (laitteen tämän hetkisellä tarkkuudella) merkitys on noin 1100-15 500 vuodessa. |
