Logging on to the customer computers

  • Aalto University staff members log on to the customer computer using the Aalto username and password.
  • Other customers log on using a shared username and password.

Opening a thesis

  • On the desktop of the customer computers, you will find an icon titled:

    Aalto Thesis Database

  • Click on the icon to search for and open the thesis you are looking for from Aaltodoc database. You can find the thesis file by clicking the link on the OEV or OEVS field.

Reading the thesis

  • You can either print the thesis or read it on the customer computer screen.
  • You cannot save the thesis file on a flash drive or email it.
  • You cannot copy text or images from the file.
  • You cannot edit the file.

Printing the thesis

  • You can print the thesis for your personal study or research use.
  • Aalto University students and staff members may print black-and-white prints on the PrintingPoint devices when using the computer with personal Aalto username and password. Color printing is possible using the printer u90203-psc3, which is located near the customer service. Color printing is subject to a charge to Aalto University students and staff members.
  • Other customers can use the printer u90203-psc3. All printing is subject to a charge to non-University members.

Abstract (eng):In this research it is investigated how well the predefined and described logistics process of the Finnish Defence Forces Material Command is suited to the operations of the establishment.
The objective of the research is to present the future operations so that the logistics functions support the core process of the purchased life cycle control of technical material.
It is also objective of this research to present the steering and management implementation model for the core process of logistics control of the establishment as well as for the logistics subprocesses of the depots.
The research will also present the key development objects of the logistic process.

A process means a set of reactions, which will form a new result.
A business process means a set of tasks, which will form a useful result for the business.
In order to achieve this the business can be managed using process management.
The benefit of the process management is the convergent of the organisation and the functions in practise when the person responsible for the process management has better chance to manage and develop functions as an entity.
When organisation combines the phases of the deliveries of items and services as one entity, it can be treated as a logistics process.
The logistics process is a value adding chain, which results to a commodity or a service to be transferred in the chain by vendors, manufactures and distribution channels to the customers.

According to this research the logistics of the establishment functions the most effectively in the described logistics process in operating organisation.
The most important benefit is that the logistics functions are observed as one process from the vendor to customer.
Centralising the functions the overlapping tasks can be eliminated and the improvements can be achieved in economy, productivity, customer satisfaction and personnel.

In the future the management system of the logistics process should be developed in the establishment.
The steering of the logistics process should be minimised and this should be negotiated between the director of the establishment and the relevant depots.
Networking with the surrounding and international industrial companies the effective realisation of the logistics process can be achieved.
To realise this the establishment should ensure the skills of the personnel in the process and the full and effective usage of forthcoming ERP in material management.
The process should also support the vision of whole establishment.
The logistics can be seen as a mode of action, which do not cause additional costs, but brings in several benefits.
The changes will require sheer will and adapting to the new mode of functions.
Abstract (fin):Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitetään Puolustusvoimien Materiaalilaitoksessa määritellyn ja kuvatun logistiikkaprosessin soveltuvuutta laitoksen toimintaan.
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on esittää tulevaisuuden toiminta siten, että logistiikka tukee puolustusvoimille hankitun teknisen materiaalin elinjakson hallinnan ydinprosessia.
Tutkimuksen tavoitteen on myös esittää ohjaamisen ja johtamisen toteutusmalli laitoksen logistiikan hallinnan ydinprosessin sekä varikoiden logististen osaprosessien välillä.
Tutkimuksessa esitetään myös logistiikkaprosessin keskeisimmät kehityskohteet.

Prosessilla tarkoitetaan sarjaa reaktioita, jotka synnyttävät tietyn uuden lopputuloksen.
Liiketoimintaprosessilla taas tarkoitetaan joukkoa tehtäviä, jotka aikaansaavat liiketoiminnan kannalta hyödyllisen tuloksen.
Tähän päästäkseen yritystoimintaa voidaan johtaa prosessijohtoisesti.
Prosessijohtamisen etuna on organisaation ja käytännön toiminnan yhtenevyys, jolloin prosessista vastaavalla on paremmat mahdollisuudet johtaa ja kehittää toimintaa kokonaisuutena.
Organisaation yhdistäessä tavaroiden tai palveluiden toimittamiseen liittyvät vaiheet yhdeksi kokonaisuudeksi, voidaan puhua logistisesta prosessista.
Logistinen prosessi on arvoketju, jonka tuloksena hyödyke tai palvelu siirtyy ketjussa toimittajien, valmistajien ja jakelukanavan kautta asiakkaalle.

Tutkimuksen mukaan laitoksen logistiikka toimii vaikuttavimmin ja parhaiten kuvatun logistiikkaprosessin mukaisesti toimivassa organisaatiossa.
Tärkeimpänä etuna on, että tällöin koko laitoksen logistiikkatoimintoja tarkastellaan toimittajalta asiakkaalle yltävänä prosessina.
Toimintojen keskittämisen ansiosta päällekkäisiä töitä voidaan poistaa, ja saadaan aikaan taloudellisuuteen, tehokkuuteen, asiakastyytyväisyyteen ja henkilöstöön kohdistuvia parannuksia.

Tulevaisuudessa laitoksessa tulisi kehittää logistiikkaprosessin johtamista.
Logistiikkaprosessin ohjaamisen tulisi olla vähäistä ja se tulisi tapahtua laitoksen johtajan ja varikoiden välisen tulosneuvotteluiden yhteydessä.
Verkottumalla ympäröivän ja kansainvälisen teollisuuden kanssa varmistetaan logistiikkaprosessin tehokas ja vaikuttava toteutuminen.
Näiden toteutumiseksi laitoksen tulisi varmistaa prosessissa olevan henkilöstön osaaminen ja tulevan materiaalihallinnassa käytettävän tietojärjestelmän laajamittainen ja tehokas käyttö.
Prosessin tulee tukea myös koko laitoksen vision toteuttamispyrkimyksiä.
Logistiikka voidaan nähdä toimintatavaksi, joka ei aiheuta lisäkustannuksia, vaan tuo mukanaan monia etuja.
Muutokseen vaaditaan kuitenkin tahtoa ja uusien toimintatapojen hyväksymistä.
