Abstract (eng): This thesis will analyse the impact of .the emerging model, "Software as a Service" (SaaS on existing software providers.
The model has emerged to provide software solutions as a service that the user subscribes to.
This is as opposed to buying and implementing a solution in-house.
The thesis will explore and analyse the financial, deployment, technical, risk and business aspects of using this model, compared to using the traditional model of procuring and taking ownership of the software.
The changing of a software provider's business model to SaaS will be analysed.
On a simple level the SaaS model vs. the traditional models can be compared to leasing vs. buying a car.
The SaaS model is gaining momentum, as more companies focus on core competences and cost cutting.
Even many large companies are starting to accept the internet as a delivery mechanism and the level of data security it can provide.
