Abstract (eng): | The amount of JavaScript-application running on the web browser is increasing. At the same time, browser performance requirements are getting higher and measuring browser performance is becoming meaningful task. JavaScript performance measurement methods are researched in this thesis. JavaScript load of popular web sites are profiled and collected data is used as the basis for the benchmark test design. The load of popular JavaScript frameworks and JavaScript language standard are also used for test design. Finally tests are executed on closed laboratory environment and on public beta test program. Hundreds of thousands of collected results are analyzed for quality with various statistical methods. |
Abstract (fin): | Internet selaimessa toimivat JavaScript-sovellukset ovat yleistyneet viimeaikoina. Samalla selaimelle asetettavat suorituskykyvaatimukset ovat kohonneet ja suorituskyvyn mittaamisen on tullut mielekkääksi. Tässä diplomityössä on tutkittu, minkälaisilla menetelmillä suorituskykyä voidaan mitata. Suosittujen verkkopalveluiden JavaScript-kuormaa on profiloitu ja havaintoaineistoa on käytetty suorituskykytestien suunnittelun tukena. Sen lisäksi testien suunnittelussa on selvitetty yleisimpien JavaScript-kehitysympäristöjen tapaa kuormittaa internet-selainta sekä JavaScript standardin tarjoamia mahdollisuuksia. Tämän jälkeen testejä on koekäytetty sekä suljetussa testiympäristössä että julkisessa testauksessa. Satojen tuhansien testitulosten perusteella testien laatua on mitattu erilaisin tilastollisin menetelmin. |
