Abstract (eng): This thesis considers PWB depaneling concentrating on terminal products manufacturing and also on general level.
It consists of two separate parts.
The first one is based on existing knowledge.
In the second part some possible developments issues are presented.

All depaneling methods available today are presented.
Short description of the process, its good and bad characteristics and type of work it is suitable for are given.
Punching and routing, which are dominant methods in today's terminal products manufacturing, are treated in more detail.
Machining affairs are described in detail and also tools and machines are presented accurately.

The chapter considering depaneling in PWB design describes how choice of depaneling method affects depaneling costs and how costs are formed.
Among with these requirements and restrictions of methods are discussed.
Also some preferred solutions to how problems can be avoided, are treated.

The chapter on punching machinery and tools standardizing discusses the issue from user point of view.
It introduces some issues that should be noted and discusses how the standards can be reasonably created.
Desired benefits, of which clearly meaningful is compatibility of tool and machine, are discussed.

The chapter on acquisition of depaneling machines describes what kinds of issues are related to acquisition process and what should be noted.
Advice given is aimed to shorten the work needed for request for quotation and also to unify acquisition process and machinery.

The chapter on the evaluation of depaneling machines describes what is in the EMS business a normal way to get familiar with new type of machines.
How to do evaluations completely and consistently is discussed.
Giving instructions on how to create the procedure for evaluations in which preparation has great impact does this.

At the end there are some observations, recommendations and conclusions.
It is recommended that all the advice given in this thesis be put into everyday use even if it first appears that this does not result into any benefits.
In the beginning, when they are first introduced, it is advisable to investigate whether all the instructions and procedures fulfil all the requirements and if not, they should be updated.
It should be noted that after the improvements presented in this thesis have been done, there is still much more that can be done.
