Abstract (eng): | The purpose of this work was to examine the current state of the testing equipment of plywood samples and to design and build new, partly automatic plywood testing equipment. The aim was to ease the workload of testing personnel and to speed up the testing process. Old existing testing equipment was to be utilized where possible. No design neither the building of new equipment should cause remarkable disturbance to ongoing plywood testing process. In the planning phase the aim was to examine and to understand the perceived problems in the accuracy of measurement, and in metrology, as well as the effect of human factors into measurement. The basic requirement of design was to build an automatic, safe-to-use and easy to learn system. Maintenance of the system should be easy, as well. In the design, it was also to be considered that the automatic equipment would be built elsewhere than in its final location. The equipment was divided into separate functional entities, and intention was to build each entity as well as possible according to the given requirements. The aim of this work was also to examine in each entity the risks that possibly could affect the accuracy of measurement. The functionality to move supporting points automatically was included into the equipment outside the original requirements. Automatic plywood testing equipment was finalized in time, despite of remarkable problems in installation. Many problems occurred when integrating the old computer system into the new one. The control system of the new equipment was programmed as an entirely independent system, which only transfers the necessary measurement data to the control computer. The speed and accuracy of new testing equipment were compared to the ones of old system. The newly built equipment achieved its target levels already in the implementation phase. The measurements of the equipment were verified after the first implementation phase and necessary adjustments and corrections were performed. However, this equipment represents a prototype and therefore reproducing it in large scale may not be applicable. Outcome of the project can, however, he utilized when designing similar equipments. This automatic plywood testing equipment has been taken in fulltime production use. |
Työssä rakennettu automaattinen vanerin testauslaitteisto on otettu tuotantokäyttöön. |
