The purpose of the empirical part was to validate the importance of the factors identified in the theoretical part as well as to get hold of the specific knowledge of those trends and factors, which can be influenced by actions of a shipping company. Answers to the questions obtained in this part of the research allowed better understanding of what kind of value-added service could be offered to Russian export customers as well as what kind of special logistics arrangements and management of information flows would bring about the increase in westbound traffic.
