Abstract (eng): | The emphasis of the literature part was on formulating biocontrol agents, mainly fungicides. Formulating is found necessary in order to improve application, shelf-life and predictable performance. The effect of freeze-, spray and fluid bed-drying is shown in formulation examples. In these examples, also the effect of different formulating additives is compared. The literature part also shortly compares the properties and use of biological and chemical agents. The aim of the experimental part was to develop the existing formulation of actinomyces spores to a more user-friendly wettable powder through different additives. Surfactants, which would improve the wettability without decreasing neither stability nor floating or foaming properties were investigated. Many additives including PVA, Tween 20 and silica improved the wettability but simultaneously deteriorated other properties. The results of the study demonstrate that no single solution to the formulation of a biocontrol agent was found as combination of chemicophysical parameters with biological activity poses a multitude of inherent and environmental variables, which will behave differently under different conditions. Even though the experimental part of the present study was conducted in 1990, these questions continue to pose significant challenges even today. |
Abstract (fin): | Kirjallisuusosan pääpaino on biologisten kasvinsuojeluaineiden, pääasiassa fungisidien, formuloinnissa. |
