| Abstract (eng): | The purpose of this Master thesis is to find means for the enhancement of learning and study motivation in the teaching of micro computer technology in secondary level vocational education. The framework comprised a test of an integrative teaching method for the teaching of vocational courses at Nastopoli Vocational Institute in Nastola. In the teaching experiment there were two groups of students studying to graduate as electronics technicians within the period of 2006 to 2009. For background studies of the case, there was a survey of teaching of micro-computer technology and integration as a teaching method among Finnish secondary vocational teachers of micro computing technology. To conduct an up-to-date teaching experiment, the current pedagogical views of a learning process were featured in the background study. The composition of the educational objectives was modelled after the national core curriculum published by The Finnish National Board of Education as well as the locally approved education providers locally approved curriculum for electricity qualifications of Nastopoli Institute. The teaching was carried out by integrating six study courses related to micro-computer technology into one study unit of 21 credits. The results presented in this thesis suggest that an integrative teaching method is both beneficial and motivational. A practical learning method motivates students improving their learning results accordingly. The students' professional identity was also strengthened compared to students taught with traditional methods. The teachers involved in the experiment felt increasingly motivated, which added to the students' overall success in their studies. |
| Abstract (fin): | Työssä etsittiin keinoja oppimistulosten ja opiskelumotivaation parantamiseen mikrotietokonetekniikan opetuksessa sähköalan perustutkintoon johtavassa ammatillisessa toisen asteen koulutuksessa. Teoriataustan perusteella kokeiltiin työpainotteista ammatillisia opintojaksoja integroivaa opetusta Nastopoli-instituutissa Nastolassa kahdella elektroniikka-asentajan ammattiin opiskelevalla ryhmällä vuosina 2006 - 2009. Tutkimusaineistoa vahvistettiin Suomen ammatillisten oppilaitosten sähköalan opettajille suunnatulla kyselyllä mikrotietokonetekniikan opetuksesta ja integroinnista opetusmenetelmänä. Jotta opetuskokeilu olisi ollut ajanmukainen, paneuduttiin taustaselvityksessä kasvatustieteen näkemyksiin oppimisesta. Opetustavoitteet varmistettiin ammattialakohtaisista Opetushallituksen säädöksistä ja Nastopoli-instituutin sähköalan perustutkinnon opetussuunnitelmasta. Käytännön opetus toteutettiin integroimalla kuusi ammatillista aihealueeltaan mikrotietokonetekniikkaan liittyvää opintojaksoa yhteen 21 opintoviikon opintokokonaisuudeksi. Työn perusteella integrointi todettiin toimivaksi opetusmenetelmäksi. Käytännönläheinen oppimismenetelmä motivoi opiskelijoita ja oppimistulokset olivat hyviä ja opiskelijoille syntynyt ammatti-identiteetti oli vahvempi kuin perinteisillä opetusmenetelmillä opiskelleiden. Opetuskokeiluun osallistuneet opettajat kokivat työmotivaationsa ja -innokkuutensa nousseen. Tämä osaltaan paransi opiskelijoitten opintomotivaatiota ja -menestystä. |
